Those of us who live in France are mostly in or near countryside and that means we are in daily contact with animals some being our own, others belong to our neighbours but mostly it is the wildlife. To be able to enjoy them fully we must be aware of their needs but more importantly our needs and to remain safe and healthy while enjoying the ambiance.

In the spring of 2016 I saw a lot of bird activity in one corner of our veranda. When I looked close I saw a pair of bluetits seemed to have decided to build their nest on the beam where it goes into the wall. We have two cats and they were fascinated by these birds flying in and out of that little hole. Though they tried every trick in their books to get to them, the choice of location by the bluetits proved to be excellent.
